OK guys, over the last few weeks I’ve been asked a few times the usual questions; how do I get my app downloaded more often? how do I get people to know my app even exists? And then I’ve been asked, is growth hacking the secret to app success and can I please reveal the secret?
What? There are way too many buzz words (industry related words) that are being heard in the main stream and the true meaning of the word is lost in translation. Growth hacking app success is this simply a myth?
What is a growth hacker?
A growth hacker as described in Aaron Ginn’s growth hacker series on Techcrunch by ‘Dan Martell, founder of Clarity, as, “Growth hacking is a mindset more than a toolset.” It is a set of disciplines learned through doing and out of necessity. Growth hackers have a common attitude, internal investigation process, and mentality unique among technologists and marketers. This mind-set of data, creativity, and curiosity allows a growth hacker to accomplish the feet of growing a user base into the millions.’
For us more simple people, growth hacking is a mix of marketing and technology.
How can this help me?
1: Data – By analysing all the data you have on your product, your audience and your competition it is possible to build a plan for marketing your app. Data helps show you where there are gaps in the market, where things work and when thing go wrong.
2: Creativity – Its not enough to gather data and analyse it. It is important for a growth hacker to think outside the box and to push the boundaries. For example, you can see through data that your competitors’ worst sales times are between 1pm and 2pm how do you use this information to help your business?
3: Curiosity – Is real data all you need? No, there is more to growth hacking than the basic details. The need to understand why someone would want to use your product, why they choose your service is what drives growth hackers to their successes.
What else do I need to know?
What you need to do to ensure your app is a success is to follow the following three tips;
1: Know your audience
2: Know your competition
3: Ensure you app optimised fully to the app store optimization stands
4: Work hard
Growth Hacking is a new buzz word, all it really means is to analyse your audience and market your product accordingly. Don’t get scared from these new words.

Making an app with the AppsGeyser free app tools is child’s play, a few clicks and you have yourself a fully running functional app. Did you remember to optimize your app?
What? Let me explain. Many of your would have heard of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and you have ensured that your websites are optimized with the correct keywords, tags, internal links and all the extras required to get your website to perform well and show on the first page of Google. Well, did you know that there is an app store version too? We are going to teach you the secrets to ensure your app is ASO (App Store Optimised) and ready to come up top in app store searches.

ASO Cheat Sheet Apptamin
App name: For optimization the app name has to clearly identify the content of the app. For example, if you have an app about horses, calling the app Lucy’s Horses will not bring you up high in the search engine. However, if you make the name more specific to what the app is about ie; horse breeds or horse games you will find more people will find your app. To find out how many searches per month are made using certain keywords check out the Google AdWords page.
Icon: Your icon is the first impression potential users will get of your app. Make sure the icon represents the image you want to portray and that the icon clearly presents the content of your app. With ASO you need to be transparent so potential users will understand what you represent. Unlike a website, an app is physically installed onto your mobile. If your app is being uninstalled frequently, this will begin to affect your position in a search.
App Description: Keywords are not picked up from the description of the app at present. The description is your time to sell your app and to convince the potential user that this app is the app they need. Make sure that the description is concise and describes what the app really does. The first three lines of the description are the most important, the first three lines will either buy you a new user or not.
Screen Shots: Screen Shots provide the window into your app. You should use this opportunity to highlight the main functions of your app. At present Google allows you to upload 8 screenshots. We recommend that you use every one of those screen shots, starting with the most important function first.
App ratings: First of all make sure that you have all your relevant contact details on the page. This enables dissatisfied customers to contact you and discuss their issues. The companies that do not have clear contact details find dissatisfied users leaving poor ratings on their app because this is the only means of communication open to them.
App Updates: Make sure you use this fully. It builds confidence in your potential user that you are updating your app and the information is relevant.
Android App Store Optimization is not as complicated as Search Engine Optimization. If you follow the simple rules you will find your app will be better placed in the app store. As competition increases the rules for optimization are sure to change. We will of course keep you updated with any new information.
