Earning Money from a Blog
September 10th, 2012We’ve spent a lot of time discussing how you can earn money from your app. There are many different avenues available, from ads to pay-per-call affiliate links, and there is a blog. Yes, earning money from a blog is possible.
One of the most common ways to promote your app and brand is through a blog. Don’t panic if you aren’t sure of what a blog is I can explain it to you in a few simple sentences.
What is a blog?
A blog, short for the term weblog, is a website that features articles, known as posts. Posts appear on the blog in chronological order, always with the most recent first. Older posts are archived and they are stored in the category sidebar. This enables the reader to find a past post according to the topic they are interested in. Blogs are generally written around one main topic and then divided into subdivisions.
Can a blog really help promote my business and increase my sales?
The short answer is yes. A blog represents a variety of functions that are aimed at increasing your brand awareness and sales. A blog has the facility to highlight your knowledge, your passion, and your expertise in your chosen field, giving your clients peace of mind in your ability.
Your blog will also generate awareness of your brand. Clients arrive at your blog looking for answers to a topic related question and are sold by your knowledge. It is important to ensure that your blog’s style clearly identifies your brand.
Isn’t starting a blog expensive?
No, blogs are very cheap to start. You can begin with a simple WordPress or Blogger site. Prices vary from free to a small cost for domain name and hosting. Compare this to the price you will be paying for a small advertisement and the financial gain is already obvious. What is more important to note, your blog is there forever, not only one month like your expensive ad.
People like reading blogs; they are not only informative, they are also conversational in tone. The tone personalizes the blog, and it helps the reader connect with the blogger (the writer of the blog) and the brand which they represent. The conversational tone continues with the ability to comment on posts, creating a social relationship between the readers and the blogger.
Without attempting to monetize your blog, you already save money on advertising, pull in a wider audience, and raise awareness of your brand. Using these techniques, in addition to alternative revenue avenues such as pay-per-click ads, direct advertising, and affiliate marketing, you can increase your income dramatically.
