How to Create a Google+ Page to Market Your App
November 8th, 2011Google+ just rolled out pages for businesses over the last 24 hours. While Google+ doesn’t have the user base that Facebook does, it’s really important to have a Google+ page for your app or business for a number of reasons:
- Indexing. Remember that Google is the number one search engine. A product that has a page within Google’s Google+ system has another search result, another point of interest, another way to be found.
- Many ‘techies’ are on Google+ and those are often the people who have Android phones.
- Engagement. Facebook fans only see some of your stream, only engage with some of it at best. On Google+, the connection is stronger. Every post invites comments.
Creating a page is easy. Simply go to http://Plus.Google.com, login, and look for the bottom right hand corner of the page. You’ll see a button that says Create a Google Plus Page. Click it.
Then choose your category – in our case Product or Brand.
Add your info.
Customize your page’s public profile
Share your page with your friends. And then start posting on your page!
Be sure to post interesting things that will keep your readers engaged, and be sure to ask questions for them to answer. Remember to post your Google+ profile link on Facebook and Twitter too!
